Nursing - FETAC
The Professional Diploma in Global Trade and E-Business aims to provide the exporting sector with the trained professionals it requires, and ensures that its graduates have the necessary skills to contribute immediately and effectively in the expanding international trading environment.
The Irish Exporters Association initiated the Diploma back in 1953, under the title Diploma in Foreign Trade, and in 1997 the Professional Diploma was introduced to cater for the needs of students already working in the exporting arena. The Institute of International Trade of Ireland was formed seven years ago by the Association with the objective of handling the educational and academic research aspects of export trade practice and policy.
With the explosion in modern Information and Communications Technologies, the Diploma was renamed the Professional Diploma in Global Trade and E-Business, to reflect that it is primarily in international business to business transactions where the full effect of the new technologies will be felt the most.
Membership of the IITI
The Institute of International Trade of Ireland (IITI) is the professional body of the Irish Exporters Association, and is both the examining and awarding body for the Diploma. Students are required to register as members of the Institute for duration of their studies. Through membership, students will receive copies of Export Link, which is the official publication of the Institute during the academic year. They will also be invited to attend workshops or classes run by the Association and the Institute on relevant aspects of trade.
Examinations take place in January and June each year. Awards however, are only available to students who pass all subjects first time.
Past exam papers are available from the course co-coordinator in each college. If none are available, apply in writing to the Institute of International Trade.
